LIVING WITH PURPOSE THIS YEAR
Turning Goals into God-Honoring Habits

TODAY’S VERSE

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.”

Proverbs 16:3 NIV

TODAY’S QUOTE

Goals become lasting change when they are surrendered to God and practiced daily.

TODAY’S MESSAGE

As a D-group, we have prayerfully identified goals that reflect maturity, balance, and a desire to honor God in everyday life. These goals are not random resolutions. They are intentional responses to how God is shaping our hearts this year.

Discipline in reading the Word reminds us that spiritual strength begins with daily nourishment. God’s Word is not just information but formation. When we commit to reading Scripture consistently, we allow God to renew our minds, correct our paths, and anchor us in truth. Discipline keeps us returning to the Word even when motivation fades.

Determination to complete studies reflects perseverance and stewardship. Education is a season God uses to shape character, patience, and responsibility. Determination is choosing to finish well, trusting that God is developing more than knowledge He is developing endurance and faithfulness.

Dedication to sleeping on time may seem simple, but it reflects wisdom and humility. Rest is not laziness. It is obedience to God’s design. By honoring healthy rhythms, we acknowledge our limits and trust that God is still at work even when we rest.

Direction to help others shows outward focus. God never shapes us only for ourselves. When we intentionally look for ways to serve, encourage, and help, we reflect Christ’s heart. Direction keeps our goals from becoming self centered and aligns our lives with God’s mission.

Desire to maintain a healthy lifestyle recognizes that our bodies are gifts entrusted to us. Caring for our physical health allows us to serve God and others with strength and longevity. Desire fuels consistency, reminding us that honoring God includes how we care for ourselves.

Together, these goals reflect a balanced discipleship. They touch the spiritual, mental, physical, and relational aspects of life. When surrendered to God, these are not burdens to carry but pathways to growth.

This year is not about perfection. It is about faithfulness. God will use small, consistent steps to produce lasting fruit.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Choose one of the five areas and commit it intentionally to God in prayer this week. Ask Him for grace, consistency, and accountability as you grow in that area.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. Which of these goals will require the most faith and discipline for you

  2. How does honoring rest and health reflect trust in God

  3. Why is it important that our goals include serving others

  4. How can this group support one another in staying consistent

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord, thank You for guiding our hearts as we set goals for this year. We commit our discipline, determination, dedication, direction, and desire to You. Help us grow consistently, not for our own glory, but to honor You. Give us strength when we are tired, focus when we are distracted, and compassion as we serve others. Establish our plans according to Your will and shape us into faithful disciples of Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
