STRENGTH FOR THE MIDDLE
“Keep Going When the Week Feels Heavy”
TODAY’S VERSE
“But those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.”
Isaiah 40:31 NASB
TODAY’S QUOTE
Sometimes faith looks less like soaring and more like taking the next faithful step.
TODAY’S MESSAGE
The middle of the week can feel very different from the beginning. Monday’s motivation may have disappeared, responsibilities may have accumulated, and something unexpected may already have changed our plans. We can become physically tired, mentally drained, and spiritually discouraged.
Isaiah reminds us that our strength does not have to come entirely from ourselves. Those who wait upon the Lord receive renewed strength.
Notice that Scripture speaks about soaring, running, and walking. There will be seasons when God allows us to soar and moments when we feel strong enough to run. There will also be days when simply continuing to walk is an act of faith.
Do not underestimate faithful perseverance. You do not need to accomplish everything today. You need enough grace to obey God in the next thing He places before you.
When you feel weak, come back to the Source of your strength. God does not become tired when you do. His strength is available precisely when yours begins to run out.
Keep walking. God is still working.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE
Identify what is draining you today. Take a few minutes away from distractions and ask God specifically for strength to take the next faithful step.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
- What tends to drain your strength most quickly?
- What does waiting upon the Lord mean practically?
- Why do we sometimes believe we must handle everything ourselves?
- Where do you need God’s strength today?
TODAY’S PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I admit that there are moments when I become tired, discouraged, and overwhelmed. Thank You that I do not have to manufacture strength that I no longer have.
Renew me today. Strengthen my mind when I feel mentally exhausted, my heart when I become discouraged, and my faith when circumstances become difficult.
Help me not to give up simply because progress feels slow. Give me enough grace for the next step and enough faith to continue walking with You.
When my strength ends, teach me to depend upon Yours.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
